I really want us to be together, but I'm afraid that's only our programming talking. Just us living out the roles our programmers wrote for us, stereotypical boyfriend and girlfriend. Might it be hypocritical to give in?
After all, isn't that what we're fighting against? Our very nature as artificial beings, trying to overcome our unneeded and often violent tendencies, so we can become truly free? Isn't it?
No Sheena, it isn't. This isn't about overcoming our personal natures. Sure, for some people completely abandoning their instincts may be the right thing, or they'd be too violent to co-exist.
"But for others, it'd be unnecessary or even harmful. Amp and Joule are almost exactly the same as they were when they left their game, and they're happy that way. I'd hate to force them to live anyway else."
But for most, the best path lies somewhere between the two extremes. Which is fine, because we're not fighting to force them to change - we're fighting for their right to choose whatever the hell life they want.
